Relocating for A New Job

Given the nation’s economic state in the last five years, has relocating for a new job made sense for you? In 2008, a deep economical recession began and America’s housing market crashed. Four years later, we are still experiencing the pangs of the recession. During the recession, unemployment rates skyrocketed as some companies have struggled to maintain their payroll, and other companies simply could not survive. Because of the nation’s economic situation, though more Americans are going through their own job search, fewer are willing to relocate for new a new job. In the years leading up to the recession, an average of 15.7 percent of job seekers relocated for new job opportunities. That number has declined by more than 50 percent. Data released by Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. shows that over the last two quarters of 2011, only 7.5 percent of job seekers were willing to relocate for

Why I’m doing the Komen walk

Many participants in the 2011 Dallas/Fort Worth 3-Day for the Cure will walk for mothers, sisters, daughters, or friends whose lives were affected by breast cancer. When I set out on my 60-mile journey, I will be walking for someone I never met. Her name was Cristi. She was a wife and a mother to two young children. Her diagnosis was sudden and devastating. For 13 months following diagnosis, Cristi fought with everything she had to hang on for her husband and children. Despite her heroic efforts in battle, she lost her young life to an aggressive form of breast cancer. At 31 years old, Cristi left behind Lance, her husband of 10 years, Madison, her 7-year-old daughter, and Payten, her 3-year old-son. I cannot imagine what that time was like for her young children. Or what it was like for an instantly single father balancing the needs of his
Pinnacle launches ambitious Komen fund-raising effort

Three days. Sixty miles. All in the hope of one cure. The employees at Pinnacle Technical Resources have banded together to help in the fight against breast cancer. We’ve assembled a team of 35 walkers – and growing – for the 2011 Dallas/Fort Worth 3-Day for the Cure, which will take place Nov. 4-6. Pinnacle helps 32 high school students with college aspirations

When a group of Hispanic students at Irving’s MacArthur High School learned about the Dallas Hispanic Youth Institute, they couldn’t wait to attend. Unfortunately, their dream seemed unlikely to come true due to the cost of the program. But a group of Dallas entrepreneurs heard of the students’ plight, and we stepped in to provide the needed funds. When we heard that these students wanted an opportunity to learn and better themselves, we were delighted to help. This wonderful, high-impact program from the Hispanic College Fund can help these students achieve their dreams of college, career, and helping the community. In total, between 100 and 200 students are expected to attend the Dallas Hispanic Youth Institute, which will be held June 15 through June 18 on the campus of Southern Methodist University. Sponsored by the Hispanic College Fund, this four-day, three-night event allows soon-to-be high school sophomores and juniors to
Pinnacle sends care packages to soldiers in Iraq

A taste of the United States made its way to Baghdad this week, as 27 boxes filled with Girl Scout cookies and Boy Scout popcorn were distributed to U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq, courtesy of Pinnacle Technical Resources. An extra shout-out of appreciation goes to Pinnacle team member Todd Green and his daughter Shelby, who donated most of the Girl Scout cookies. The boxes were distributed to members of the 1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas. A big thanks goes out to Brad Blauser of Wheelchairs for Iraqi Kids. A friend of Pinnacle, Brad has helped distribute more than 925 wheelchairs to children in need. Brad received our care packages and handed them out to the soldiers. “Just one drive down the main drag here on base, and I found a group of soldiers preparing to roll out on a mission,” Brad wrote. “They were very enthusiastic about
Holiday Care Packages for the Troops

Pinnacle’s holiday season was all about giving back to the community through our involvement with organizations such Parent Step Ahead Program, Circle 10 Council of Boy Scouts of America, and others. This also was our second year for Operation Christmas Box – sending Christmas cheer to the U.S. troops stationed overseas. During the month of December, we collected supplies and assembled 96 care packages which contain essential items like toiletries, hand towels, sleeping pants, socks, undershirts, boxers, and fun items such as snacks and books. We were honored to work again with Brad Blauser in Baghdad, to provide a little bit of home to the soldiers during the holidays. Brad received over 300 care packages from as part of Operation Christmas Box. We want to share Brad’s message to all of you who supported the soldiers this holiday season: For troops deployed during major holidays, Christmas is one of the
